Hugel et Fils Alsace Riesling 2005

This light-bodied wine is very dry and tart - there are flavors of sour apple, spices like ginger, and just a bit of citrus. Overall the flavor character of the Hugel et Fils Alsace 2005 Riesling is very complex, but also very temperature sensitive. It takes very little warming for this wine to become too warm, so you need to pay attention to this when serving.

Chateau St. Michelle Riesling 2007

The Chateau St. Michelle 2007 Riesling is off-dry, so it isn't quite as sweet as it smells. It's rather fruity up front and has a tart, mineral finish. Overall, the taste experience is crisp and refreshing. As this medium-bodied wine warms up, the pear flavors come out more strongly. On the second day it is less acidic, sweeter, and arguably less balanced.

What Is White Wine?

There are many different types of white wine, and each white wine has its own characteristic flavors and aromas. There are, however, common characteristics that allow us to talk about white wine as a general category. Knowing about white wines and white grapes generally will help you better understand and appreciate the wines you drink. It's a good idea to learn about the colors, styles, and characteristics common to white wines.

Pascual Toso Torrontes 2007

The aromas of the 2007 Pascual Toso Torrontes are about medium in strength and intensity, with primarily tropical fruit and floral scents mixing together. Overall, though, the aromas are a bit older and less pleasant than other Torrontes, in particular the 2007 Catena Alamos Torrontes. I'm not sure if I would go so far as to say that the Pascual Toso Torrontes had a smoky or even musty edge, but it did seem older and less fresh.
