Mendoza Station Reserva Torrontes 2009

Like the aromas, the flavors of the 2009 Mendoza Station Reserva Torrontes are mostly tropical fruit but combined with a bit of citrus. This is a dry, light-bodied white wine with marked acidity and a moderate flavor intensity. Like other Torrontes, it's best when drunk cold and shouldn't be allowed to warm up too much.

 
 
Volant Mill Blackberry Wine

The Volant Mill wine is medium-sweet and rather tart. It tastes strongly of blackberries, as you would expect. It's probably not the sort of wine that you would want to just sit and drink alone. You could do this, if you want, but blackberry wine is better when paired with desserts - primarily chocolate.

 
 
Cline Viognier 2007

The Cline Viognier is a full bodied, medium-dry wine with acidity that can range widely from flat to crisp, depending on the circumstances in which you drink it. It's probably a bit more flat when drunk alone, but it acquires some nice crispness when paired with the right foods. The flavors are predominantly floral with just a bit of fruit and a nice mineral edge. One important thing to remember is that the Cline Viognier is much better when served cold - when the temperature of the wine goes up a bit the alcohol becomes too prominent, ruining the flavor.

 
 
Dominio del Plata 'Crios de Susana Balbo' Torrontes 2007

The Susana Balbos’s Crios is a medium-bodied Torrontes which starts sweet and finishes dry, making it a great wine for a variety of situations and dishes. The flavors are primarily floral and tropical fruit, especially melons. The acid is crisp and refreshing and the texture is creamy.

 
 
Priest Ranch Sauvignon Blanc 2007

This is a dry, medium-bodied wine with marked acidity. The Priest Ranch 2007 Sauvignon Blanc doesn't taste nearly as strong as it smells. The flavors are only low to moderate, with some barely detectable apple and maybe tropical fruit as well.

At times it has a slightly bitter aftertaste and it really needs to be cold to be enjoyed properly — as it warms, an unpleasant alcohol burn develops. Unfortunately, the colder it is the more the flavors are suppressed. In the end, this unresolvable tension causes the wine to be too unbalanced.
