The 2009 Apothic Red is a good red wine to serve at parties because it's flavors will not only work well with a variety of foods, but the flavors are likely to be acceptable to preferences to a variety of wine drinkers. It's hard to find a wine that enough different people can enjoy but the 2009 Apothic Red is probably a good option to try. However, it may be better to avoid sweeter dishes when drinking the Apothic Red.
As with the aromas, the flavors of the Robert Mondavi Vinetta are primary dark berries like blackberries along with black cherries and plum. The texture is smooth and as thick as the wine looks when swirling in the glass and there is a hint of oak in the background. This full-bodied wine has an extended taste, high tannins, and is quite dry.
The Menage a Trois Red has very fruity, almost jammy flavors dominated by red berries, blackberries, and just a bit of plum. It's has a creamy or velvety texture that helps make it very smooth and enjoyable to drink. It's quite approachable as a drier red wine that is easy to drink either alone or with food. My wife praises it by saying that it's a wine that's 'worth the calories' to drink during the evening. The acidity is relatively soft, medium dry, is full bodied, and has dry tannins. It will probably taste better to most people if you give it a chance to breathe for a bit before drinking.
The flavors of the 2007 Menage a Trois California Rose are composed primarily of red berries and cherries. It's definitely something that should be served well chilled. This wine is vary approachable and very easy drinking - it should make a good wine for picnics, cookouts, and other summer meals. This might be a good wine for people who are accustomed to sweeter wines but are interested in shifting to drier red wines.
