This 2007 Pinotage from The Winery of Good Hope is a deep, dark red - almost purple in color and is reminiscent of blood at times. This full-bodied Pinotage is smooth with a strong alcohol taste, red berry flavors, and a spicy finish. Overall it's a decent Pinotage, which is commendable because Pinotage is a very difficult wine to get right.
The Paso a Paso Verdejo 2008 is a deep golden color, almost honey-like with a medium color-depth and nice clarity. The Paso a Paso Verdejo 2008 has some pretty early acidity that leaves quickly; after that the flavors emerge — mostly lemon and some mineral around the edges. The intensity is moderate and smooth; while the wine is dry overall there is a bit of sweetness to the flavor.
The aromas of the Cline Rosé are dominated by tart strawberry and a hint of cream. The flavors of this Mourvèdre Rosé are primarily light fruit. It's medium-sweet with soft tannins, marked acidity, and an acceptable length.
This light-bodied rosé starts rather flat, but quickly becomes crisp with ripe fruit and a clean - and somewhat extended, acidic - finish. It would be best to keep this wine cold while drinking it because the alcohol becomes much more prominent as the wine warms up.
The texture of the Bonterra Syrah is much thinner than you would expect from how thick it looks, but it's also velvety smooth on the tongue which is quite nice. The flavors of this medium- to full-bodied wine are dominated by fruit but there is also some warm spice at the end.
