The St. Francis Winery 2008 Chardonnay is a straw-golden color with green-tinged edges and nice clarity. The flavors of this dry, full-bodied Chardonnay are very aromatic and consist mostly of apple, pear, and creamy vanilla. The acidity is strong enough to make the St. Francis Chardonnay quite refreshing.
The 2008 Wyatt Chardonnay is a pale greenish-yellow with clear edges. The nose of the Wyatt Chardonnay is clean with distinct notes of pear, melon, and other tropical fruits. This Chardonnay is a dry, full-bodied wine with crisp acidity and moderate flavor intensity. For a Chardonnay that isn't oaked at all it's hard to avoid the impression that it still tastes a little oaky, but that's countered a bit by the mineral flavors.
Appellation: 20% Monterey County, 35% from Yolo County, 45% Mendocino County
This dry, full-bodied Pinot Noir has strong tannins and an extended length. The flavors are dominated by strong, jammy berries - strawberry, black berry, and a bit of cherry. There is also a subtle hint of toast in the background. Some people might notice dirt or mushroom notes and stronger flavors of toast or oak.
The 2006 Pirie South Pinot Noir is a deep, dark purple-red but it also has a slight coppery coloring around the edges. The aromas of the Pirie South are fairly slight and dominated by berry and tart cherry. This dry, full-bodied Pinot Noir has strong tannins, smooth acidity, and an extended finish. The flavors are tart berries and fruit, though rather low in intensity.
The Spanish Quarter Red is a dry, full-bodied wine with strong red fruit and chocolate flavors. It has nice acidity and medium tannins that are reminiscent of Zinfandel. It has a fairly extended finish, perhaps longer than one would normally expect from a red wine of this price.
