The Chateau Ste. Michelle Orphelin is a deep, dark purple red and has a thick, velvety appearance when you swirl it in the glass. The Chateau Ste. Michelle Orphelin tastes very fruity and is very approachable for a full-bodied red wine. In fact, it's not nearly as dry as you might imagine and it's not too tannic either.
The Chateau St. Michelle 2007 Riesling is off-dry, so it isn't quite as sweet as it smells. It's rather fruity up front and has a tart, mineral finish. Overall, the taste experience is crisp and refreshing. As this medium-bodied wine warms up, the pear flavors come out more strongly. On the second day it is less acidic, sweeter, and arguably less balanced.
