Pairings

Pineapples and melons are the primary fruit flavors of this Muscat wine, but what dominates the palate is sweetness. It's much sweeter than other comparable Muscat wines, like the Alice White 2007 Lexia, and has in fact been described as 'liquid candy.' There's really no complexity to this Muscat at all. If you or someone you know likes very sweet wines, you'll do well with the Sutter Home Moscato.

Sutter Home 2007 Moscato Tasting Notes & Review

Color & Clarity
The Sutter Home Moscato is a very pale gold with green edges — in fact, it's paler and greener than the comparable Alice White 2007 Lexia.

Nose
The light floral and fruit scents of the Sutter Home Moscato are difficult to identify. It also smells distinctly sweet, a sign of what's to come when you taste it.

Palate

As for us, it may have finally turned my wife off of her traditional preference sweet wines.

Food Pairing
There aren't too many foods that seem to pair well with the Sutter Home Moscato. Cheese is not generally a good choice to have with Muscat wines, though some can do well. This Sutter Home sucked the flavor out of aged Gouda and was nasty with chevre. Cheddar, feta, and swiss cheeses all paired badly as well.

When it came to other foods, the Sutter Home Moscato tasted sour when paired with spicy curry and became slightly tart when paired with buffalo wings. It was only fair when paired with General Tso's Chicken, contrasting strongly with the Alice White 2007 Lexia which actually worked very well with this Chinese dish.

Although it paired poorly with chocolate, it worked reasonably well with fresh strawberries. You can probably drink the Sutter Home Moscato safely with most medium-sweet deserts, but not so much with strong, intensely flavored deserts. Even then, though, you'll need to prefer a very sweet wine in general.

Recipes
I don't think the Sutter Home Moscato would do well added to any recipes; the best and perhaps only use for it would be as a desert wine.
