The 2007 Navarro Correas Coleccion Privada Malbec is full bodied, but perhaps just a bit thinner than other Malbecs tend to be. The flavors are strong in plums and cherries accompanied by strong - almost astringent - tannins. The finish is long but flavorful and pleasant. You can enjoy strong, flavorful, semi-hard cheeses like swiss or sharp cheddar with the 2007 Navarro Correas Coleccion Privada Malbec. Aged hard cheeses, like parmesan and gouda, can be especially good because the Malbec brings out more of their flavors.

Food Pairing
You can enjoy strong, flavorful, semi-hard cheeses like swiss or sharp cheddar with the 2007 Navarro Correas Coleccion Privada Malbec. Soft goat cheeses like chevre don't work very well and should be avoided. Aged hard cheeses, like parmesan and gouda, can be especially good because the Malbec brings out more of their flavors.
For main dishes, you want to choose something that will stand up well to the strong Malbec flavors. Navarro Correas Coleccion Privada Malbec isn't recommended to go with pasta dishes using more delicate tomato sauces, like those that depend primarily on herbs for their flavors, but stronger pasta sauces should work well. Barbecued and grilled meats would also make for good pairings.
Recipes
The Navarro Correas Coleccion Privada Malbec will work well in fresh tomato sauces for pasta, adding some interesting fruit flavors. However, be advised that the strong purple coloring of the wine will transfer to the dish, too, causing your tomato sauce to take on a purplish hue that may negatively affect the presentation.
Coleccion Privada
Navarro Correas "Coleccion Privada" has five wines in it. There are four red wines (Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Syrah) and one white wine (Chardonnay). All wines in the Coleccion Privada are aged for 12 months in small oak barrels then bottled with labels that include paintings by well-known Argentine artists.
Navarro Correas has been producing wines in Argentina for nearly two centuries; in 1798 Don Juan de Dios Correas first planed grape vines in the Mendoza region of Argentina, just at the feet of the Andes mountain range. For most of their history, though, they sold grapes to others for use in wine.
It wasn't until 1974, under the leadership of Edmundo Navarro Correas, that the family began to produce their own wines from grapes grown in their own vineyards. Navarro Correas is no longer locally owned but rather has been part of international conglomerate Diageo since 1996.
