Rhone, or Cotes du Rhone, is a sunny and hot region in southeastern France which produces robust, uncomplicated wines which are high in alcohol. Almost all Rhone wines are produced in southern Rhone and almost all of these are red wines with Grenache being the dominant grape variety. Rhone also produces some complex red wines, but for the most part wines from the Rhone region of France are just good, inexpensive wines for drinking on a variety of occasions.
