French Wines: Reviews, Tasting Notes

France is associated with wine production and wine drinking more than any other nation. Many territorial regions of France have given their names to great wines: Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, and Chablis, to name just a few. France is also home to most of the standard wine varieties which most people drink: Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, etc.

Wine has been grown in France since before the Romans arrived and France has proven to be a great place to grow grapes for wines because of its combination of climates and soils, something known among French wine growers as terroir. The French model for growing grapes and making wine has thus become the standard model for gapes and wine around the world.
