There are no grape varieties native to Australia, but the imported grapes have come to produce some great Australian wines. Australia's warm, dry climate provides a good means for stressing vines and forcing them to produce stronger, more intense grapes. Although Australian wines were once merely mediocre, the Australian wine industry's technologically advanced methods have helped it lead forward to become one of the largest and most appealing wine producing nations in the world.
