California Wines: Reviews, Tasting Notes

American wines are most closely associated with California wines because California is America's most famous and oldest wine growing region, getting its start when Spanish missionaries planted the first grape vines in southern California. California is also the biggest wine production region in America, responsible for nearly 90 percent of all wines created in America. California has enough variations in climate and geography to produce a variety of good wines.
